preGA: Tag 0 – Roadtrip and kidney stones
So originally our day was supposed to start at 8am… Since all of us – Anna, Dino, Georg and me – had been working late into the evening (preparations of the various preGA Workshops, AMSA-Birthday video), plans maybe changed a little. After breakfast at around 9am we left Sarajevo heading for Montenegro. After a short stop in Mostar for Cevapcici and a short consultation for the border policeman about his kidney stones we finally made it to our final destination: Budva. The hotel lobby was already alive with IFMSA people. Happy faces everywhere, a very present very positive feeling all around us, radiating from new people excited for what’s to come and friends reuniting, that live way too far apart from each other.
After making it through registration we were left with about 30min for shower and/ or dinner – depending on your speed – until the Opening Ceremony offically started the preGA. The classic welcome speeches and introductions were concluded with a professionall dance couple from Montenegro that floated over the stage like their feet didn’t even touch the floor.
To finish the offical program we just did a quick check in with our trainers. An hour later the welcome party organized by the Organizing Committee (OC) started, but since people were tired from travelling and still getting up to speed with everyone they hadn’t seen in a while, it was neither big nor long and most of us ended up in our beds around 1am.
All in all – an easy start that seemed to promise more for the following days.
