preGA: Tag 1 – Let’s get started
Finally, the first sessions-day has arrived: Today the workshops of the preGA started. After the breakfast we all split up into our different trainings.
I am attending the “Global External Focus Areas”(GEFAs), that is facilitated by the two Program Coordinators Emeli and Line, supported by the Vice President for External Affairs Marie and all the Liaison Officers. The main goal of this workshop is to get an overview of the focus IFMSA has been putting on certain areas of its external representation.
After a short introduction to the importance of external representation and the discussion on which level it can be done, we got an overview of the different external work that is done by the VPE and the Liaison Officers. They focused on the new implemented GEFAs:
- Climate Change and Health
- Social Accountability in Medical Schools
- Primary Healthcare
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
- Humanitarian Action
- Refugees and Migrants Rights and Health
- Health in All Policies
- Sustainable Health Workforce
- Meaningful Youth Participation
After the lunch we had a session about global health and health diplomacy, conducted by Line and Emeli. We also had an interesting session about Advocacy and Stakeholders, which was really useful for the work in our NMOs.
The day passed really fast and after the dinner, we met some friends from Catalonia and went to the Karaoke Party. I was performing a song of my favorite singer Britney Spears together with Anna 🙂 It was really a fun night and I just fell asleep back in my room to get some sleep for a next day of interesting sessions, interactive discussion and many more IFMSA adventure.
